In Guess the Player, your goal is to discover the hidden footballer before you run out of attempts. This is a daily challenge where a different player appears each day, chosen from the best in current European football.
To play, type the name of any real footballer in the search bar. After each attempt, the game will compare their stats with those of the hidden player: league, team, position, age, height, and nationality. Stats that match exactly will be highlighted in green, giving you valuable clues to refine your next guess.
In addition to stat clues, the hidden player's image will progressively reveal itself with each failed attempt. At first, you'll only see a blurry silhouette; the more attempts you make, the sharper the image will become. Sometimes a visual detail is enough to identify them before using up all your tries!
You have a maximum of 8 attempts to guess correctly. You can customize your experience by choosing between two difficulty levels before you start:
Remember to use the comparative clues smartly: if the team doesn't match but the league does, you already know where to look. If the age is close, try players in a similar age range. Deductive logic is your best weapon.
The game is a daily challenge and can only be played once a day, so think carefully before confirming each answer. At the end, whether you guess correctly or give up, you'll be able to see the solution and share your result. How many attempts will it take you today?
Good Luck!
This style of stat-comparison guessing game became a massive internet trend in 2022 with the creation of 'Poeltl' (for NBA players) and 'Footdle' or 'Who Are Ya?' for football. It combines the daily streak appeal of Wordle with deep sports knowledge.
The database of professional football players is immense. FIFPRO, the worldwide representative organization for professional footballers, represents more than 65,000 active players globally. However, games like this usually focus on players from the top European leagues to keep it solvable.
Player heights in football vary drastically compared to other sports like basketball. While the average height of a Premier League player is around 1.82m (6ft 0in), legends of the game like Lionel Messi (1.70m) and Diego Maradona (1.65m) proved that a low center of gravity can actually be a massive advantage.
Guessing a player's exact age can be tricky without seeing the arrows. The average age of a Champions League squad is usually around 26-27 years old, which is considered the peak physical and mental combination for a professional footballer.
