Football Photo Quiz is a daily visual challenge where you must identify iconic moments in football history from a heavily zoomed-in image. Each daily session features 3 different zoomed-in images to test your visual memory and historical knowledge.
For each image, you start with a maximum of 100 points. If you recognize the moment immediately, type your answer in the search box to secure the full score! If you don't recognize it, you can click the Zoom Out button (Lupa) to reveal more of the image, making it easier. However, each zoom out costs you 30 points.
To play, start typing a keyword related to the image in the text box (like a player's name, a stadium, or a specific match). If your keyword is related to the correct answer, a dropdown suggestion will appear. Select it to submit your guess!
The ultimate goal is to complete the 3 images of the day with the highest score possible. The maximum possible score is 300 points, but the guaranteed minimum if you guess correctly (even after maxing out the zoom) is 10 points per image.
Good Luck!
Sports photography is considered one of the most difficult branches of photojournalism. Photographers use massive telephoto lenses (often 400mm or 600mm) and high shutter speeds to freeze the action, resulting in incredibly detailed images that make this zoom game possible.
One of the most iconic football photos of all time is Diego Maradona facing six Belgian defenders during the 1982 World Cup. It looks like a moment of pure magic, but photographers later revealed it was actually taken right after a short free-kick, which is why the defenders were so close together.
The 'Hand of God' goal by Maradona in 1986 was famously captured by several photographers, but the most iconic angle showing his hand clearly punching the ball past Peter Shilton was taken by Mexican photographer Alejandro Ojeda Carbajal.
In modern football, it's not just professional photographers capturing the moments. Cristiano Ronaldo's famous bicycle kick against Juventus in 2018 was captured perfectly not only by press photographers but also by thousands of fans' smartphones simultaneously, creating a 360-degree historical record.
